So how is Vista’s real world usage doing? According to W3Counter - An internet traffic monitoring site, the operating system has only picked up 3% of the market and lags far behind XP. See the chart.

Whether Google Docs & Spreadsheets is a full-fledged Microsoft Office competitor is up for debate. But StarOffice, Sun’s desktop-productivity suite, is definitely a head-to-head Office rival. And StarOffice distributed by Google? There’s no way anyone could claim that isn’t meant to be a direct shot across the Microsoft Office bow. 
Today, Pamela Jones (of Groklaw) has a little insight. Based on Jonathan Schwarz’s blog, she suspects that Microsoft may have tried to encourage Sun to sue Linux (the infamous ‘proxy manoeuvre’). Here is what Jonathan says…
“You would be wise to listen to the customers you’re threatening to sue - they can leave you, especially if you give them motivation. Remember, they wouldn’t be motivated unless your products were somehow missing the mark.”
The relationship between Sun and Apple hasn’t been hotter since the merger talks were going on in the early 90’s. With yesterday’s announcement of JavaFX taking on Microsoft’s Silverlight and Adobe Flex Platforms, it can only get hotter.
