Hi, I’m a Programmer. I’m In love with my new Mac because…
“…I’m just like you, seriously! I’ve been using Microsoft stuff since 1992! That’s right, I’ve been a windows user most of my life. I remember 3.1, NT, 95, 98, 2000, ME (fucking stupid, 2000 in a different box, right?), and then on to (OOooOOoo) Windows XP. Luckily for me, the buck stopped here.
It’s about here that I meet Jay Phillips. Jay, a fellow hacker, is the creator of a very successful Telephony application called Adhearsion. He will be the first to tell you owes some of his coder success to his MacBook. Honestly, Jay even looks like the Mac guy on the commercial (see right). Anyway I was in the mood to debunk this obviously misguided coder (because coders need TECH machines, not pretty toys, right?) and I can honestly say from the deepest techie place in my heart: I got PWWWWWWND. This is why: Read the full post on SiKaNrOnG.com (found via SwitchingToMac.Com)

Whatta bunch of crap. He lists Macs being “sturdier” than PCs? Whatever. If you fling around your laptop or kick your Mac tower enough, it’ll get banged up and broken too. And if the reason a new Mac is so frickin’ expensive is because of the “superior” case, why not give me the option to have a “standard” case and a “standard” PC price?
He also mentions he can only use XP after a clean install for a few days before it is bogged down in crap. He’s a tech expert and he gets his system bogged down? What is he loading? AOL and every other crap app in existence??? Moron. What a dumb thing to say.
Oh, and then he talks about his Mac only needing to be forcibly shut down once compared to Vista’s MILLION+ times. Again, what are you doing on Vista? It’s like saying, “Doctor, it hurts when I do this…” And the crap about Mac being that stable is rubbish. OSX has always been an OS plagued by inescapable grey screens of death and random lockups - don’t act like they don’t exist.
Finally, Expose is overrated. It’s eye candy, but hardly amazing. On Windows you have the taskbar which is faster and simpler (no button or keyboard shortcut needed). And “Search” on Vista compared to “Quiksilver” is better because I don’t want my computer to assume it knows what I want to do. If I type in Firefox, I may want to access just the Firefox folder, NOT start the browser. Besides, any Search feature is only so useful and is rarely, if ever used by most people.
